Congrats for you....YOu will love it... I have been a WMI for about 2 months now and I love it. We have so much fun in class and I love to teach and share information back and forth with my class.

Good luck and I am sure you will do fine.

I am not an WMI instructor but a pastry chef who took classes to improve my decorating. It really is a great feeling when you can share your knowledge (and errors) with others in this creative and therapeutic hobby/work. I graduated from doing a "Bugs Bunny on the Run" cake a few years ago to creating and decorating beautiful and lavish cakes that keep on bringing me repeat business. I am new to the forums but will post some pix of the work I have done.

That is so cool! How did you get into it? Was the selection process hard? I've been thinking of doing that, but I've never taught anything before, but I would LOVE to be a Wilton instructor! Please tell us how your first class goes! I'm so excited for you!

thanks everyone! It really is exciting. My first class won't be till October but I will definitely let you know how it goes. All you have to do to apply is go to the wilton website (www.wilton.com) and click on instructors neededFrom there you can read the information, fill out a screening form and the process begins! Good luck!!!! I think it is a great outlet for creativity, a chance to share knowledge and learn all at the same time.... not to mention a 40% Wilton discount LOL! Thanks again for all your kind words, right now I'm just giddy but as the class gets closer i'm sure i'll be nervous! icon_biggrin.gif

If you don't mind me asking - how does the pay work? I mean, I'm sure it's a standard amount so it's probably on the Wilton website, but I heard it's actually based on how many products are sold and not necessarily an hourly rate. I would love to do it, but they're offering overtime at work, so it would depend on if Wilton would pay as much as me working overtime or if I just put off Wilton until they stop offering overtime at work. I would have SOOO much more fun doing classes though! And do they require any prior teaching experience? I'm sorry to bombard you with questions - I hope you don't mind!

I am a Wilton teacher have been teaching for 4 years....your pay is not based on how many products you sell...it is based on the number of students you have....
I didnt have any prior teaching experience..i just went through all the courses 1 2 3 then sent in pictures of my work...and have been enjoying teaching ever since...
u will find not only are you teaching your students..but u learn from them as well.....ENJOYicon_smile.gif

exactly. sales not included or required. pay is totally based on the number of students in your class, there is a pay scale and you are paid depending on head count alone. Wonderful program.

The pay isn't great but I love sharing my knowledge, meeting new people and learning new things. The one thing I would like to say is: "Keep it fun". As long as it is fun your students will want to come back for the next course.

Congratulations!!!! alaskanmom, you'll love it.

Alaskan mom - I just wanted to tell you how much you inspired me! I've been kicking around the idea of being an instructor for a while, and the day that I read your post, I printed out an application and already found an opening in my error! I haven't filled it out yet - I have to figure out child care and all that - but hopefully I will soon. Thanks for getting my big old behind moving on this! Your excitement just really carried over and got me all excited too. Good luck to you!
