Hi everyone. I'm doing a b-day cake for my son on Saturday. He loves White Reeses so every year I bake him a white chocolate cake with peanut butter mouse filling and regular vanilla b/c.

Anyone have any ideas for a different flavor for the b/c? He hates chocolate (he is not a normal child) so I can't do chocolate b/c. I have done vanilla and butter pecan cream cheese b/c in the past but want something different, that will still go with the white chocolate and peanut butter flavors.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Naty

Naty, Gee I'm not sure what to do with it, I would THINK, (but when I do that the results are often dangerous icon_lol.gif ) that you may be able to replace some of the crisco in your buttercream recipe for the nutella. It is just about the same consistency as peanut butter, so, maybe replace a 1/4 to 1/2 a cup? But.....I would maybe wait for another opinion, as I really don't know what I am doing and just kinda make stuff up as I go along.

My kids don't really like chocolate, but they LOVE peanut butter, and nutella. So....I think it may be good. May want to do a little test.

It's hard because my kids (I think many kids) don't really like cake, so whenever I do a practice cake, either I give it away (try to) or my husband and I end up eating it. Not so good if you are trying to watch your weight....oh well! Good luck to you icon_smile.gif

Aquick filling with nutella: mix one tub with a tub of store-bought cream cheese frosting.

It tastes heavenly! And it cuts the chocolatey taste in the nutella...this might be good if he doesn't like chocolate.

I have to do the peanut butter filling....he said!! but I do like your idea of the nutella and cream cheese. Usually I do the butter-cream cheese frosting but I'm afraid to add conf. sugar if I use the nutella...don't want to make it to sweet. I think I'll do 2 cream cheeses and the tub of nutella and a little milk to frost the cake. Do you think that will work?

Thanks for the idea!!

Bonniebakes,

Thank you for the idea. Unfortunately he doesn't like bananas (but I do so will keep it in mind). Chocolate covered bananas sound great about now...maybe I could do it for my B-day!!

Thanks for your help!

Nutella is found in the same grocery aisle as the peanutbutter usually. It is a hazelnut-chocolate spread.

You could try flavoring your buttercream with coffee creamers. You could use hazel nut, french vanilla, or caramel.

Well just wanted to let you know that I ended up using the recipe for the butter pecan frosting but using toasted hazelnuts instead of the pecans and added 1/2 cup of Nutella. Really delicious stuff!!!!

I did a peanut butter mousse that was really good too and easy.

I baked the cake the day before. When I split it to fill it with the mousse, it wasn't cooked all the way icon_redface.gificon_cry.gif . It was gummy and I did not want to serve it to the guests so I dumpted it and off I sent hubby to buy a supermarket cake. I'm really surprised because its the same recipe I have used before. Maybe my oven is dying on me?? Now I got tons of peanut butter mousse and Nutella butter hazelnut frosting in the fridge. Gee.....can I freeze them? The Nutella frosting has butter, cream cheese, conf. sugar and Nutella. The mousse has whipped cream and cream cheese also. What do you think?

Thanks,
Naty
