I just made some cookies to day that I frosted with buttercream. The BC I used only crusts slightly so I cannot stack the cookies without destroying them. Right now I have them in a rubbermaid-type container, but I can only get 6 or 7 cookies in the container.
What can I use to transport these cookies without ruining them? Do they make boxes for this use - large and flat with just a small edge? (does that make sense???)
I have seen some before at a cookie store that held about 12 cookies and the edge was only like 1 inch high and then they just covered the box with saran - there was no lid for the box.
I like to use the boxes they sell for pies. I put a piece of waxed paper in the box then put my cookies inside and close the box. Then I can just slide the was paper out with all the cookies on it. Where I buy them they come in 8" and 9" size with or without a window. Or if you can buy a couple of pizza boxes from a pizzaria they also are great for transporting cookies.
The cake deco place near me sells these little white 3 pronged table looking things that you put on the level of your cookies and then you put a cardboard piece on top then another layer of cookies. The salesperson called them "pizza" something or others. Think they were like .33 each.
The place I use is makeacake in Houston. They have a website or you could call them.
If you are concerned about presentation, maybe they're for a customer, then the pie and pizza boxes are excellent ideas. When I carry cookies I use sheets of shelf liner (that gummy/ waffle-textured stuff which you can wash in the dishwasher.) cut to fit my cookie pans -- the jelly roll ones with a lip. I cover them with Glad Press'N Seal. Cut 2 sheets to go sideways rather than one long one. Press on one side then you can pull really tight so it doesn't droop and mess up your cookies. I hope that makes sense. HTH.
cakeatopia I know exactly what you mean lol they use them here for pizza delivery they look like little tables and they keep the cheese on the pizza from sticking to the top of the box. I usually like to wash and keep them only since I couldnt really think of what else to use them for I ended up throwing them out now you just gave me a good idea for them thank you lol
Well, finally a good use for those little "pizza table things" - great idea!!
I have some of that gummy/waffle texture stuff so I'll try that today!
You guys are so good at solutions!! Thanks for the wonderful ideas.
I but the little portion or condiment cups for just this purpose. I use a regular 14x19x5" sheet cake box with a cake board in the bottom and appx a dozen cookies on it, then put a little plastic portion cup in each corner and stack another cake board on top with a dozen cookies on it and voila! The ones I use are I think .75 oz. and are just tall enough to protect the buttercream decorations! I buy them from the local restaurant supply, but I'm sure you could find them on-line. I've even used plastic nut cups in a pinch!
HTH
