Can anyone give me some advice on how to do a purse cake. I have the idea as far as carving but i'm trying to figure out how to make my little gold loops and zippers look like real gold and how to get my designs on it should i use paint or fondant and what kind of paint?

I'd use fondant to make everything and then paint it with gold luster dust mixed with either lemon extract or vodka or everclear. Prefer the liquor because it evaporates faster and if the cake isn't going so well....usually I don't care by the time it's done (just kidding...lol).

For the loops, zippers. latches etc. I use fondant and also use the gold luster dust mixed with a few drops of vodka.
For the actual designs on the cake I usually paint them on with a fine paint brush and paste icing color also mixed with a drop or two of vodka.Good luck!
