Hey Everyone.. I was just wondering..
Have you ever been in the cake mix isle or the wilton isle (wal mart for me) and see others just looking..
You know, they pick something up read the back and place it back on the shelf.. Say like those useless icing in a tube, meringue powder or the chocolate chips.. makes me wonder, " OK they have no idea what that is, so they might be trying this whole cake thing for the first time". Or when they look at the Wilton books and then place it back on the shelf.. Again I'm thinking " they have no idea what to make or where to start"
I want to sooooooo bad ask them..
"Hi! Your gonna make your own cake and you've never made a cake before?.....
NOOOO.. let me do it!!!"
LOL
How would you approach someone, not sounding rude or making it look like your all in their business.. LOL Just wondering.....
LOL Guess I didnt explain this right.. A few people I've seen, really look confused!!!!!!
Sometimes I do that but I'm usually calculating how much I can get away with buying before I get crabby looks from my husband! ![]()

What I do is eavesdrop enough to know if they are trying to do their wedding themselves (grocery aisle, craft store in the wedding aisle, GFS) and I will ask them, "Planning a wedding? (hand them a card) Here's my website address .... there are some great tips and ideas that may help you out!" and then just walk off.
I'm not soliciting their business (don't want the store to kick me out for "bothering" their customers and soliciting in their store), just offering some helpful hints! Oh yeah, and while they're in there, they might get interested in my cakes! heh heh heh heh! ![]()
Since I teach at Michaels I'm in the aisle often before classes or after shopping for myself. If I see someone that looks confused I'll start up conversation with them and ask if I can help them with something. If they seem interested in learning more but don't know where to start I then will tell them I'm the WMI and let them know we offer classes there.
If you want to help them or give them ideas of now to get started that is one thing. If you want to pick up business then I'd be more careful about that. Think about how you feel when you give your kids a homemade cake. There are other people that want to have that same feeling, they just have to start somewhere too. ![]()

That's a good approach, I should try that! ![]()
