This is probably a dumb question because I know that most of you can probably do this in your sleep! Something that seems so easy that I can't seem to get right. What is the best way to make ribbon roses? I'm making a cake for a little girl's first birthday this weekend and I feel like those would be a good addition. Thanks for your help!

Don't feel dumb I took a fondant class just because that was one of the things taught. First take a strip of thin fondant and fold it in half long ways. Then take the very edge of the folded strip with the fold up and bring the top tip down to the bottom edge (kinda makes a triangle). Then you just start rolling and sorta pleating the ribbon around. I don't know if this makes any sense but if you serch the forum I am sure someone else has explained it better.

Cut a piece of fondant about 1 1/2 in. wide fold inhalf. Start at one end of ribbon and start to roll until you have the desired size. Very easy. Sometimes I'll pinch one end a little thinner to get asmaller center.

Hope that helps

Okay, I think I know what I did wrong. I didn't fold it over first! Looking at the little video I think I can do it now. The mom wants the cake to look like a present. So I'm going to do a 8" square cover if with MMF in pink with orange bow and accents and also some yellow circles (looks like the invitation). And I felt like the ribbon roses would look cuter for a kid's cake rather than the more elaborate ones. That's crazy, I can make the difficult ones but not these. I think I got it now though.

Thanks for everyone's quick help! You came to my rescue. I'll definitely post the picture when I'm done, it'll be my first upload.

Wish me luck!!
