I have a little boy turning 6. We have talked about everything that he likes and he has decided that he needs a cake with a horse and a cowboy on top. He would really like an old west cake with the cowboy having a six shooter and a laso.

I tried to talk him out of it, but he is set on it. (His g-pa is a cowboy)

PLEASE can you help? You helped so much with the helicopter (which is now in my photos).

Also, I would be willing to take advice from anyone else as well. I am freaking out a little. icon_smile.gif

Thanks in advance.

sheet cake

fondant figure of cowboy atop a horse (personal fav. appaloosa spotted black and white)

cowboy has six shooter in hand to inside of cake.
in hand to outside of cake --the end of a lasso.

the lasso is actually the top border of the cake. -- make from long lengths of fondant rolled and twisted to look like a rope.

edges of cake: several options -- barbed wire fence; split rail fence, or repeating images of six shooters, cowboy hat or---

my fav....edge looks like a bandanna (like in one of the pics tiptop57 supplied) wrapped around the cake w/ a neat bolo and then ends extending off the edge.

top of cake ---

lots of options ---

steer head: "hoping you rastle up a great birthday" or "hoping you lasso a great birthday"

or could do a large six shooter w/ message being shot out of hit. "have a bang of a birthday!"

or could just leave only for message:

Yippe-ki-aye!!! <name> is 6 today!
(tho's "cow spots" could be a cute background too)

-----

on horse/cowboy fondant figure --

easiest -- horse down on four legs

fancier -- horse up on just two back legs, front legs raised in air.

HTH

Thanks for comin' to the rescue of this damsel in distress. icon_wink.gif I think I am going to go with Doug's fondant cowboy, lasso-ing the cake with a small fondant horse next to him. I am going to do the bandana thing, which I didn't "get" until I looked at the links provided by tiptop.

Thanks for all the help, pardner.

Wow that helicopter is amazing. I love all your cakes. You shouldn't have any problem with this cake.
