I Want To Try To Make Christmas Balls What Do You Suggest?

Hi
I would like to try to make these Christmas balls for a craft fair in November. I have just been reading about lustre dust and found out that it is not edible. How could I get the effect these balls have without using lustre dust as I am sure people will eat them. From what I understand petal dust and such is all edible but I really like the look of lustre dust. Any and all suggestions would be truly appreciated!
Thanks

You are sort of correct-there is one type of FDA approved dust that you can find on sugarcraft. This is one of those things that has been discussed on here so you can find some threads for other opinions but here's mine-the dusts are non-toxic and I don't think I could ever eat enough in one sitting to get to a toxic level. It's like the silver dragee-they are routinely eaten in other countries but the FDA here in the states has them on the decoration only list!
Those are the coolest looking things though. I think I need those molds!
what's wrong with using Lustre dust ? Professional Cake makers use them a lot..I'm sure they know what they're doing esp. here in the US.
that's really the only way to get this type of effect.. do you have the mold to make this ? ![]()
Wow Gibson, those are really awesome. I want to make some too for Christmas. What a great idea. thanks for posting that. Also, I have some shimmer dust in front of me from Wilton and I don't see anything on the packaging that says it is not edible. I am going to use it to put on fondant pearls to make them shimmer. I hope no one gets sick from eating them. I am also using the dragees too. This is all for a bridal shower on Sunday. I hope it's OK to eat this stuff.
Well, I bought some molds from Cake n Things (love that online store!) Anyways, they only had the two piece molds that had the pictures in the front , but I thought if I bought two molds I could use the two back pieces to have a solid round ball. This probably sounds really confusing.....

hopefully that picture helps describe what I'm trying to do.
