If i'm making a 14x2 and I want to put a filling in it should I bake two of those sizes or just cut the one in half and fill?

it's a ton easier just to bake two!!! But then again it's up to you.........are you looking for the whole thing to be 2" deep??? If so it might be hard getting a 14x1" cake even.......in that case you might be better off doing one........I would suggest using a nice sturdy board and slip it in between the cake layers after you cut and be careful........ugh, makes me nervous just thinking about it LOL

My own experience with trying to torte and fill cakes that large has not been good. I think a lot of it for me was inexperience. Still I have vowed to just bake two layers instead of trying to patch up my mistakes. Although I love the look when each layer has been divided. Good luck with whichever way you go!
