I've been asked to do a Wizard of Oz cake for this Saturday. They want this castle as the topper with the yellow brick road leading up to it. Any advice on how to do this castle? It will be made out of gumpaste and sitting on a 10" round cake. TIA!!!

maybe u could make the castle walls and when dry glue them together with royal icing... kinda like a ginger bread house... for the turrets... maybe if u had some plastic tubing ( flexible) u could wrop the gumpaste around that and when dy cut the tube from the inside and sorta pull it out ( or even leave the tube in there... i'm not sure which websites but you can by castle topper... hth

very carefully! LOL That is amazing! i know it must be porcelain??

I would think to help you out I would get a box and some paper towel cardboard rolls for the pillars! I don't know how else to get it to stand up by itself...It might be hard. And I would think you will want to mix 50/50 gumpaste and fondant so that you don't have anything crack. This will leave a longer drying time but, might have better results.

Good luck! I can't wait to see it!

I've done a castle topper before (not this one but it's in my pics) and I used a styrofoam cube which I covered in fondant and gumpaste accents. I think you could do the same with this.

Ok here is my completed version of the castle. I'm not happy with it but for what this woman is paying me she didn't even deserve this. Maybe that's why I didn't work very hard at it.
