yes, you can make the icing with a hand held mixer. Make only one batch at a time though - too much for the mixer if you try a double batch. thumbs_up.gif No it will not change the texture.

do you mean your hand mixer? Sure! I recently got a KA, which is way better than the hand mixer, but the hand mixer worked out for me in the mean time.

I went through 3 hand mixers before I got a stand one! It will work but it can be hard on them icon_lol.gif

Yes you can. I make double batches with mine and don't have a problem. (I did get a KA and a new hand held but with my very old one I didn't have trouble making dbl batches.) Royal Icing is another story. icon_rolleyes.gif

I have also gone through a hand mixer already. Add the ingredients slowly and it will be fine. thumbs_up.gif

I use a stand up sunbeam mixer and have done single and double batches of BC with no issues........and I also bought a little cheapy GE hand mixer from Wal-Mart for like 20 bucks with the wire wisk and dough hook attatchments in addition to the regular beaters and I have actually done double batches in that thing and it just keeps on truckin~~~!!!!!

I use them!!!!! I say go for it you'll be able to tell ifyour mixer can't handle it! You'll notice the beaters aren't able to a spin/1 then you better stop LOL

I used a hand-held mixer when I was visiting in Minnesota to make crusting cream cheese BC, and it worked just fine. thumbs_up.gif
I did have to find a BIG bowl though - that recipe makes a LOT!

Do you by chance have a Cuisinart food processor? I read on another thread that someone used their's and the BC turned out wonderfully. I have been hesitant to try it, but very curious at the same time.
