I am so new at this! I have taken Wilton class 1 and have made a couple of cakes with the gel transfer and using the star tips to decorate.
I am confused with the idea of the toothpick transfer the paper is to hard to poke through with the design on the cake... where can I find instructions?
Thanks ladies...
poke the holes in the paper before you put it on the cake. Doing it on top of a cushioned mat for your computer mouse helps because it gives you something to poke into. Then, you can put it on your cake and put the needle or toothpick in the same holes you have already pushed through and leave the imprint that way. Much easier than trying to do it on top of the cake first!
Good luck!
Hello,
I used this method before I got my Kopykake projector. I put the picture (usually a coloring page I printed from the Internet) on a large piece of styrofoam. I then used a toothpick or larger needle to poke holes along the lines, dot-to-dot style. Then I just positioned the picture on the cake (use crusting buttercream icing) and smoothed it enough with my hand so that the paper that poked thru on the back of the paper (from the toothpick or needle going thru) left an embossed type imprint in the icing. No need to repoke the holes or to try poking directly on the cake.
