I've never worked with Fondant- how do you color it?

Use gel colors. Apply a little to fondant, then knead until it is all well blended.

I use vinyl food gloves to protect my hands from getting dyed and just use gel paste that I use for my bc. I put a bit on the fondant and just start kneading until the color is throughly mixed and add more color until I get the desired look. It takes awhile and is tiring. What color do you need? I get precolored fondant if I need a large amount. Satin Ice and FondX have precolored in quite a few colors.

Some people like to wear gloves when they are coloring fondant. I just grease my hands with a little crisco. Take the amount of fondant you want to color and add a little bit of gel coloring (same stuff you use for icing). Knead it until the color is uniform. Add more color for a darker shade. The color of the fondant is pretty true. It doesn't darken like some buttercreams do. If it starts sticking to you or the gloves, add a little more crisco to your hands.

Also, if you are using MMF and need a batch of one color, you can add to the marshmellows while melting, makes it blend easier, and you don't have to knead as long!

I agree with Connie! If you need one color, add the paste just after melting the marshmallows BEFORE adding the sugar. Your hands don't get colored (although I put crisco on mine) and you use much less paste that way.

I have clear gel and I have the wilton colors. Can I mix the two together to color my fondant, or just the wilton colors? Please help. Thanks.
