Thank you very much! I never have a problem sharing ideas...the only thing that stops me is lack of time.... ![]()
The steak cake was pretty easy....it was actually leftover cake...It's pretty true to size....for a VERY thick steak! I drew and cut out a steak shape and placed it on my cake and cut it out. So easy cause any way you cut it is fine....
I covered it in a thick coat of BC and then white fondant. I used my fingers and a bone folder (looks like a dull letter opener) to sort of outline where the t-bone will be. I depressed the "steak part just a tad so the "bone" looked as if it were just a tad more pronounced. Then I painted. I thinned out some red & burgundy colors w/vodka and sort of marbled it, except for the bone part. Then I used a very diluted wash of
beige and brown for the "fatty parts with just some pink here and there...
The USDA stamp, I handpainted with some blue....again....perfection is not wanted here.
The sign was an edible image on a plaque of fondant with 2 skewers...
That's about it.......and it was definately a hit with my dad and brothers on Father's Day! ![]()
That's hilarious!
I remember one year in family fun mag there was an april fool's day dessert and it was either breakfast or dinner but it was all cake and ice cream made to look like real food. Eggs and bacon or steak and something, can't remember. I thougt that was what this post was about until I clicked on it.
