I just made my second cake for my wilton class and am going to take it tomorrow. I was in a hurry and forgot to pickup Viva papertowels. I just used what we had at home which was the bounty pick a size. It didn't come out perfect but I really want to know why viva is everyone's #1 choice. This cake came out a lot smoother than last week's. I could really use some advice. I can't add the attachment but the pic will be in my photos. Thanks. This website is so addicting!!

The Viva papertowels don't have any sort of pattern or texture to them, so when you smooth out the icing with them it doesn't leave any imprints. For some reason they remind me of a really thick Kleenex tissue lol, but they work like a charm!

Edit: I forgot to add that if you don't have the Viva towels you can always use computer printer paper. I haven't tried it but I've heard people mention they use it and it works just as well.

Because, I believe, Viva is the only towel that doesn't have patterns impressed in it, it's completely smooth and will give you a completelY smooth result. Other towels will leave the imprint of their pattern on the surface of your buttercream (circles, dots or whatever), hope that helps!
