Somehow in my cake education I totally missed this whole 'quilling' thing. I see collete does it as well as others Ive surfed by. I cant seem to get any search results on 'quilling' on this site(?) either in forums or gallery (Ive even used alternate spellings) anyone got an idea on quilling and if there are some threads on it? (especially ones that talk about how to do it...)
thanks!

This month's issue of American Cake Decorating has an article with instructions on how to do quilling. If your cake store doesn't have that magazine, pm me.

I think quilling was originally a papercraft. See a lot of it in scrapbooking sections of craft stores. Really cool stuff!

You might seach Google for the topic and adapt some of the techniques to cake.

Here's a link to a thread from this past spring that has several pictures of cakes done this way, and I think there's information on how to do it as well.

Quilling or paper filigree is the art of rolling thin strips of paper into different shapes and using the shapes to form designs. I got that from a site on quilling. Go to handcraftersvillage.com. I have seen it done on cakes. Looks tedious but neat.
