You know how some cakes have spirals come out of them can you make these with fondant that has Tylose Powder added (it is a fine powder you can work into fondant to make a really quick transition to gumpaste).
If so will they hard once insert in a cake the day before?
Fondant does get hard with tylose in ti so I was hoping this works
Whether you use Tylose powder or not, if you put them in a buttercream icing, they will eventually soften and break (from the moisture). I find they work best inserted in fondant. If I'm doing a buttercream cake, I'll sometimes use a small ball of fondant to insert them into. Hope that helps.
I love that look! Is there a specific tool you use, to make those designs?
I've done something sililar to the quilling cake. I use a pizza wheel to cut the strips, the just roll into the shape required (using a little water to stick). Leave to dry then place on the cake
You can also use a strip cutter. It creates several strips at one time.
