o.k. all you talented people that have made purse cakes. Did I miss it? Is there a template on the CC site for the embelishments (buckles,handle etc). I would love to make a purse cake for a young lady that will be turning 16 shortly, but am no good at cutting designs from fondant freehand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well when I made the purse cake, at first I did not have a template.. I really just jumped in there.. (then after making the templates)
My fear would be that other's cakes would not bake EXACTLY like mine. You know different sizes may occur during baking.. So I was afraid that someone else would use them and it wouldnt fit their cake perfect..
But here is how I did it. After I did a crumb coat on the cake. (only do this part during the crumb coat so that you can easily fix it with more icing when your done)
I used wax paper. I just outlined on the cake with a toothpick where I wanted the handles, zipper etc to be.. I then took wax paper and placed it onto my cake and outlined the wax paper with a marker. I cut out the templates and placed the wax paper templates onto my rolled out fondant and cut it out..
