For all of you who wonder if Magic Line or Wilton is best, my vote definatley goes for the Magic Line!!!! I have always used the Wilton pans and just used the 10 3" Magic Line pan and my cake turned out perfect! I do not even have to level the top and the sides are perfect, I can tell a differance for sure!
Just thought I would share. Well worth the money!

I have both magic line and wilton. The sizes are not the same. I like magic line better.
I made a 6" mothers day cake and the wilton pan is smaller around. I didn't really reolize this until I tried putting MMF on the cake and I didn't get a straight side. I baked in one of each of the brands.
I measured the two and wilton is just a smiggen' smaller.
Anyway, this is my experience with the two products.

Yeah... I did the same thing. ML rocks! but they are more expensive so I thought I would be "smart" and supplement my 6" supply by using the 40% at Michaels and the Wilton is noticeable smaller!

The only thing that I thought could salvage this is to use a ML cake layer for the top and the Wilton for the bottom if you wanted help achieving those slanted cakes.... thumbs_up.gif

I have been trying to get my hands on a 3" deep ML set for a long time but they are just too darn expensive for me! icon_cry.gif

I set my oven temp at 325. I have never had a cake come out so perfect, evenly cooked all over! So happy!

Patton - so happy to hear that because I recently got a set of the round Magic Line pans myself. I always read stellar things from those who own them.

Thanks for the reply - I appreciate it!!!

I love my Magic Line pans! Heard about them from the great CC members and I a slowly replacing my Wilton pans with them. They bake so much more evenly!

I have been using the Wilton pans for years but saw someone suggested Magic Line on this site quite some time ago so I bought a set on E-bay and now have purchased a few more. They are well worth it!! If I were just starting out, I would definetly invest in the Magic Line pans. I love them, there is a definite difference!!

PS I bake at 325 and use the flower nails to assure even baking.

I would have never known of Magic Line if it was not for CC. I just wish I would have known about them sooner. Although, if you are just a beginner and not sure how far your decorating will go, Wilton is a good place to start. I love this cake stuff and cannot believe what a differance a pan makes!

Luraleigh...what do you mean you use flower nails for even baking? I'd love to know.
Thanks

Use a flower nail upside down in your pan to get even baking, this is what I did as well. Just make sure to grease it like you do your pans.

Just like Patton78 said grease a flower nail and place in the center of pan, it helps make the cake bake more evenly. I use 2 or 3 nails if the pan is larger.

I have been using the nail on my bigger cakes and parchment paper too. I put the nail through the parchment paper and then the nail does not fall over and gouge my cake when I flip it to my board. I do love the magic line pans too...
