I made some little crabs out of fondant/gumpaste. They came out cute, but after they dried, all of their little legs fell off. I am leaving tomorrow to take this cake and don't have time to redo them. How can I "glue" their legs back on?
One of the legs broke and I will probably just pipe some frosting on and and wing it, but what about the other one?
TIA!

royal icing? or maybe you can just hot glue it. icon_eek.gif

an eggwhite wash works gorgeously as glue. Just a daub and let it dry. You should be in good shape!

Piping gel works great too. If you get it anywhere you don't want it to be, wipe it off b/c it dries shiny.

The egg white wash sounds like something I could do right now. I have no piping gel and REALLY don't want to make a whole batch of royal icing for two dinky little crabs!! icon_smile.gif Plus I colored them red, so it would have to be red royal icing.... But good to know for the future!

Can you tell me more about the egg wash? Thanks, everyone!

Pretty simple, really. Just mix up an egg white (or powdered egg whites) with a bit of water. I never measure--just thin out the egg white a bit. Then just daub a bit on like glue. Attach the legs, and let it dry completely. Egg white makes an incredibly strong, invisible glue. Good for cakes and mohawks alike. icon_wink.gif

Thanks! I have just gotten back on the Weight Watchers horse to lose the last 35ish pounds. I can't wait to have my old self back again!!

Ok, I have tried water and they still fell off. I tried the egg wash and they STILL fell off. As a last resort, I have brought super glue with me...

But, I haven't done anything else since we got here. The cake is for my Dad and we will have the cake this weekend. I will try
to work on the crabs again later. Plus, my one year old is sick with a fever.

Do you have any of the fondant still leftover that you could make a paste with to use?

Since you'll be there with those who are going to eat it, I think super glue would be fine as a last resort.
