I want to make an Harley Davidson Motorcycle Helmet for my father-in-law's birthday. What I want to know is what pans I should use before I carve this thing out. Should I just start with a big hunk of cake and start cutting or should I use the sports ball pan to help achieve the rounded helmet shape? There are a couple of pictuers of helmet cakes on this site. Any suggestions would be appreciated. icon_biggrin.gif

IMHO it all depends on how many you want to serve. the ball pan was my first thought, already shaped! but, it's not very big. If you are serving more than 8-10 you may want to do some layers and carve with a good sharp bread knife. Do a crumb layer and smooth the surface before doing your final icing. be sure and post pictures! Kit
