I got a call today for someone wanting a cake that looks like a bagel on Wednesday morning. I plan to use a bundt pan so it will have a hole in the middle, but I'm afraid it will look more like a donut.

What "flavor" should I make the bagel look like? I asked what the girl usually eats, but was told she eats all kinds of flavors.

I just don't want it to look like a donut lol. I thought about tilting the top, but I don't have a box big enough for the cake to fit like that.

Thanks for the help!

Hello
how about splitting the cake in 1/2 and cover the bottom with a white filling so it looks like cream cheese & then replace the top, but put it off center just a little (so one side of the top half is resting on the cake board & one side of the bottom half is showing the 'cream cheese').
you will want to have a tan color for the icing; or better yet, cover it with fondant (the smoothness will resemble a bagel more). then add tiny bits of fondant, in a lighter color, that you roll between your fingers to look like sesame seeds... or depending on the flavor of the cake, you could sprinkle real poppy seeds on the top.
what do you think?
ciao for now

What about using two ring molds?
