I would like to invest in a printer/scanner for edible images etc. Is one printer/scanner better than another? I have been on Kopykake website..but am confused on printer/scanner. I would like to get a compact unit. I have an HP printer scanner but don't want to have to be changing cartridges all the time..does anyone else use their personal printer/scanner and change cartridges? Is it a problem?
Thanks!!!!

I use a cannon printer (specially bought for edible images) it was cheaper than the ones specially designed for edibles...(got it for like $50.00 online at amazon ) works like a charm. I would NEVER ,EVER use a home printer that was for other use for my edible images...I treat that as I would any facet of cooking. My edible image printer is a piece of kitchen equipment. Not sure but also afraid if you COULD interchange them you would get trace amounts of regular ink in your stuff...not sure , just doesnt seem like a good idea.

you cant use your house printer for your edible images. They need to be 2 different printers. I thaught the same thing but from reading poste here they are not interchangable. Im looking into a cake copy system also and would like to know which one is best.

There are probably lots of folks here who can give better advice on edible imaging than myself as mainly do weddings and do very few images. About all I know is the basics.

This link from Kopykake lists Epson and Canon printer models that are compatible with edible ink tanks: http://kopykake.com/documents/PrinterInks-Xref.pdf

You can use your HP scanner to scan the images into your PC and use a new Epson/Canon printer with edible ink to print the images.
