I am doing a cake for my sister's baby shower. She said she likes the idea of a lemon cake.. so I was wondering what everyone liked to pair with lemon cake. I was thinking of maybe doing a white cake filled with lemon cream and strawberries topped with a lemon flavored SMBC.. but I don't know. So PLEASE help!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

that's sounds yummy!!!

lemon and almond go together as well

as does lemon and cream cheese

lemon and blueberry

Raspberry is a classic. What about lemon cake with raspberry filling. Either buttercream or vanilla frosting will pair well.

Im doing a lemon filled with strawberry jam. I make and use the high humidity BC and im gonna add a little lemon flavoring to it. I love lemon and berries. It's a great combination. Very refreshing.

my absolute favorite cake came from a bakery in Rehoboth Beach, DE (it was my honey's birthday cake, and I would have made it myself, but we were on vacation and hard to bake in a hotel room!)

anyway - it was lemon cake with a lemon creamcheese icing - filling was raspberry.... oh my goodness.. to die for yumminess!!

Lemon and blueberry...yum!

I love lemon so to me lemon cake with lemon curd or lemon mousse filling is also VERY yummy!

I personally like regular vanilla icing and then put all the flavors in the cake and filling rather than flavor the icing too. JMHO.
