Okay so I was going through Earlene's instructions on making fondant pearls and I don't have a flat "sponge" to put the pearls on - so I tried a papertowel, but they stuck to the papertowel! So I just let them sit on a plate....now they have little flat "bottoms". Do you all just usually put that side on the cake, or do you actually have fully round pearls??

I think when I made mine I crumpled up a paper towel and put it in a container and put the pearls on that.

I used waxed paper, and they didn't go flat. I didn't make mine from MMF I used satin ice.

they need to be cushioned...I use a piece of foam so they are cradled.

If you put them on a flat surface they will dry flat.

You can try putting the flat side against the cake.

I have some "bumpy foam" that I cut from a new foam egg crate matress pad. I put one pearl in each divot if I'm only making a few. If I'm making a ton, I put them separated on the flat side of the foam. The air flow through it helps to dry them quickly.

I actually put a viva paper towel on a plate and lightly rolled my pearls onto it. I didn't seem to get any real flat spots.

I use a soft towel to lay mine out on.
