of dual language. let me start from the beginning.
where we live there are two schools Milam (pre-k-2) and Jones (3-5). all the kids who live around here go through both schools. my DS went to Milam from k-2 and is now in 4th at Jones. while my DS was at milam i hated the school, the teachers, and the staff. I hated the way they did things and how they treated the parents and students. so now my DD is in Milam. She is dual language at Milam, i didnt get my son in because we found out about it to late so.....
now they have changed the schools. Milam is pre-k-2 and jones is 1-5 but dual language doesnt start at jones till 3rd so my house is zoned for both of my kids to go to jones next year except because my DD is in dual language she will go back to Milam till 3rd.
i know what you think, i got through it with my DS so just keep her in and i will get through it with my DD. ok
today I go to pick up my DD from school and I am in a hurry and it does not matter what time i get there to get her if there is a line i have to wait in it for at least 30 mins. well like i said i was in a hurry so i park my van and i walk up and they wont give her to me. they said if she is a car rider you have to go through the line and get her or go all the way around the school and get a note from the office and then come back and get her. I was so mad!!!!
so i go around and go to the office and i tell the lady i need a note because they wont give me my DD. she says well they are not suppose to give her to you unless you go through the line. So i said look i am not trying to be rude but i dont have time to go through the line so give me a note and for now on she will be a walker. she says well if she is a walker that means you have to WALK up here and not drive, park, and then walk to the door.
I was so mad by this time i said I live across the street thats not a problem now give me the note and I jerked it out of her hand and walked off to get my DD.
so I would rather take her out of dual language and her learn spanish from the family members she has that speak it (her dad, grandma, grandpa, ect..) than to leave her at milam for two more years.
by the way my back yard touches the side yard of jones so both my kids can walk home together and i can see them from my back yard the minuet they walk out the door.

I can't tell you what to do, nor can anyone else. I'd want to take her out too. If you like the other school better, she can wait til 3rd to do the spanish, like you said 4 members of the family already speak it, so she's pretty much well taken care of.

So I sent a letter to my DD's teacher saying she was to be a walker now and the ass. principal called me and said they take all the walkers and walk them off campus and then just let them go. My DD is only 5 so I dont think so. well I told her I just lived one street over and my son walks too and as soon as he got home it would take me about 5 mins and we would walk over to DD's school and walk with her, could she just sit in the front office till i got there. she said no they could not do that. after talking and talking to her trying to get her to let my DD stay for just a few mins after the bell rang I finally got mad and i told her just let her walk and I will be there at 2:45 to get her. so I called my DS's school and asked them if he could be released with the bus riders because they get out about 10 min before everyone else and I told them what happened and why i needed him to come home early. they had no problem with it. so today he gets out a little early and we walk over to my DD's school and we are there 5 mins before the bell rings. they didnt even let the walkers out till 20 mins after the bell rang!!! what was the big deal she could have just told me not to worry because they dont let the walkers out right at 2:45 anyway but no she wanted to make me mad.
Then they wont lets us (parents) wait in the building we have to wait outside. being an adult is one thing but they made mothers with babies wait outside too and we live in TX and right now we are in the tripple didgets!!!
so I called the school board and I am waiting to see what happens.
some good news!!!! my DD's teacher was upset with my DD walking home because she knows that the school just lets them go so she found out where we live so that she could come by and make sure my DD got home ok because she thought she would be walking home alone. She is the only good thing about this year so far.
WOW! You have your hands full, don't ya? It's good to hear that your ds school is easy to work with.
So, whatcha gonna do? I'm having problems with my ds & his Kind. aide, not the teacher, but the aide.

I am on the parent board at my DS's school so I am going to find out what I can do. I have already called the school board and I am going to keep at it if it takes me all school year. in my neighborhood there are so many parents that dont care and will not take part in what is going on with their kids the school should treat the parents who do care with a little more respect and i am going to fight to get it.
i will let yall know what happens.
