This happens to me all the time...I BC ice a cake and when I move it the base frosting cracks. HDI fix it or prevent it? I am taking a birthday cake to my gf today and dont want all those cracks...theres already some just from moving it.

TIA!

Sounds like your board isn't sturdy enough. Try double or even triple boarding.

The only thing that prevents the cracks in my icing is when I put the cakes on a covered wooden board. My husband bought a sheet of plywood and cut out several different shapes for me--1/4 sheet, 1/2 sheet, round, square, etc. I found that even when I doubled/tripled the cardboard I still got some cracks, so this was the only solution I found that works for me.
