I thought it was pretty cool..........kinda depressing when you see the people hacking up the cakes!!! For some reason that part really bothered me LOL. It doesn't matter when we cut cakes at my house, I think it must have just been the way that guy was ripping up the Jeep cake!!! So much work and so little time required to destroy it. I have only seen the one episode and didn't see a cake with rice krispies.....what did the cake look like??? Did I miss something. Oh and by the way I made a cake with part of it being rice krispies LOL my treasure chest cake, the lid was rice krispies frosted ....made it a lot easier to work with ....cake would have been much heavier......and a mushroom on one of my cakes is r.k. treats too!!
The rice krispy cake was a tequila bottle laying on top of a chocolate sheet cake. it was really cute and for a college party. They also made a german shepherd dog and the legs were made out of rice krispy treats. I think the idea is great. They just covered it all in fondant.
Well, I swore that I would never get hooked on watching the Food Network. I read in another thread about Ace of Cakes and how cute he was so I just had to watch it this weekend. Well, thanks. I spent half my spare time watching the Food Network yesterday. The other half of my time I spent watching Nascar and the Little League World Series.
Ace of Cakes was okay I guess. I didn't think he was so cute but to each her own! I was kinda turned off by the guy chopping up the Jeep also. I watched the show on the cookies last night and thought it was kinda interesting. Let's face it. I'm now addicted to Food Network right along with CC. I'll never get my house cleaned.

OMG! I'm addicted to Food Network. I love Paula Dean and I watched the cookie contest last night also. The other show I really like right now is Feasting on Asphalt with Alton Brown. Those are very good.
Is that the one where they go town to town? I watched one last night where they went to the place where the guy makes Jack Daniels fruitcake and the lady that makes Tennessee T-Cakes. Loved the show. I'm telling you, I'm addicted. No twelve step program for this either, I guess.
Good thing I am on disability and home all the time. I'd never make it to work. Between CC and the TV I can't even get my dusting done. ![]()

Only good thing was that I got a cake decorated while I was watching them. Lady picked it up for her boyfriend's birthday this morning early and stopped me as I was coming home from the Lions Club (went to water flowers) and said her boyfriend was so impressed with my cake that he wants me to do two huge sheetcakes for him for UPS next week. He's the plant manager and it's Founder's Day or something. I was tickled. I don't do many cakes and rarely make any money at it. Told her he would not get the bargain that I gave her as she is a close friend.

Wow thats awesome news for you! Congrats! The one I saw on Feasting on Asphalt is where Alton was riding his motorcycle and he has an accident on the gravel road and broke his collar bone. He was with a police officer who took him to several places to eat and then went to a Navaho indian place. I don't think thats the same show but I'm not sure.
Okay, I just went to the Food Network website and figured out what show I was watching. It was Road Tasted. I watched a little of Feasting on Asphalt but fell asleep and missed most of it. I'm sure I will be seeing it once these Little League games end. I love sports along with loving cooking!!!

ok, here's an additional note for you. Not sure if it was duff or another person at the bakery but I wrote him asking what he used to weld with... Turns out its the same kinda welder I use. The fact that they answered and in under a day is VERY COOL!!!
I totally thought that I wouldn't like Feasting on Asphalt. I love watching Good Eats and swore that nothing could be as good.
WRONG. ADDICTED INSTANTLY. I think I watched like 3 when they ran them back to back the other night.
I love watching Alton's shows!! I felt sooooo bad for him when he crashed his motorcycle and fractured his clavicle right on TV!! But he was a trooper and kept right on with the shows...

I like Alton too. Paula is one of my favorites too, she was at the Opryland hotel in Nashville over the weekend!
Ace of Cakes, the cakes were just amazing!

I agree. Except for when I represent something living, I never really think about someone cutting into my creation - afterall, that's why I created it. But these people where cutting and enjoying, they were hacking into the cake. They didn't show the respect the creation deserved. I've got to admit that the bad feeling I felt watching them destroy the jeep and Preakness cake stuck with me for awhile.

I'm totally with you I cringed with every jab LOL I don't know what's worse though, them hacking the cake up and loving it or like what happened with my guitar cake......they loved it so much they NEVER ate it....they kept it for almost a month and then tossed it!!!1 If I had known they were going to do that I would have saved my 40 bucks on the choc. fondant and made MM fondant and dyed it black and not worried about the taste.......that's almost more offensive I think.....to go to all that trouble and have them NEVER taste it! Iwent to all this trouble painting it in all edible stuff and everything....geez, I could have just used regular ol' paint LOL
