Boy do I know how you feel. We were having a few things done in our kitchen, including replacing our stove and it was supposed to take a few days. Well, we are now on week 4 and still no stove hookup. icon_cry.gif I was asked to make two family birthday cakes but it was impossible to do with no oven.

OOh how terrible!!!! icon_eek.gif
Can't you go bake at a nearby relative or a friends home. I'm sure they wouldn't mind....It's going to be oK you'll see. I'm sure you will not hear "no" from who ever you ask.

or hey, if you're making a simple flavored cake that's round or a 1/2 sheet cake you can always try and buy an unfrosted one at your local grocery store.

That sucks. I don't know what I'd do without my stove.
Make sure you nag your husband until he gets it fixed.

I'm sure you could ask a neighbor or relative to use their oven for a little while. Bake a small cake for them too at the same time. Take it back over with easy but nice decorations as a thank you gift.

Well, since I promised the cake, I went over to my sister's and baked the cake, which is for today! but still no oven at home! ahhhh DH checked out and we would probably spend almost 200 just in parts! what a bummer, might as well get a new one icon_eek.gif

Ahh, but if you get a new oven, you can get a decent one without a major cost. The oven in my apartment is, like, 20 years old and I've only had to have the thermostat replaced once (It's not because of non usage, but because I don't abuse my oven). Everal of my tenants have had to have them replaced a couple of times. Anyway, I hope you get your oven back soon!

We are having our stove replaced that is 52 years old. Seriously, 52 years old. It was the original stove that was put in when the house was built. And, believe it or not, it still worked perfectly. We've been living here for 30 years and have NEVER had to replace one single part in it. Plus it measured the exact temperature that it should be. To be honest with you, even though it sure showed its age, I was still sad to see it go. We had to replace everything in the kitchen and that just had to go as well so that we could remodel. I've been told not to expect any new ranges to last a fraction of the time that our old one did. Isn't that a shame???? Just doesn't seem right.

Hi-this might be a really silly question, and I don't mean to get off the subject but, I'm new to this site ( I do love it by the way) but I notice a lot of abbreviations that I can't figure out what they mean.

Is there somewhere on the site that lists them, or do you just learn over time.....Some of them MMF-DH.......
