One of my customers has placed an order for a strawberry swirl cake for a bridal shower that she is hosting. I have never heard of this. She said that the bride loves it and has had it before, but doesn't remember where. Has anyone ever heard of this? Anyone have a recipe to share? Thanks!!!

I just use strawberry Jello as you would the "chocolate packet" when making a marble cake. Use your favorite yellow or white cake batter, reserving 1/4 (or so) of the batter. To the reserved batter, add the Jello packet. Swirl the strawberry batter into the plain batter in the cake pan as you would any "marble" cake.

I puree frozen strawberries, add a little strawberry extract, and then use that as my liquid for the strawberry portion of the cake. I've had rave reviews!

PGray315 -

Can you really taste the strawberry throughout? I have a request to do this for lemon, too.

chocomama...
Yes, you can. The Jello mixed with a small amount of batter is quite intense. So, when it is marble throughout it is more like bursts of flavor. I have one customer who only orders this flavor.
I haven't tried it with lemon, but I'm sure it would work the same.

PGray315 ... I have to make a 1/2 sheet. Should I use a small box or a large box of Jello?

I would use a large box for 1/2 sheet (12x1icon_cool.gif.

I use a can of Strawberry pie filling and swirl it thru my batter before baking.

I've used cherry, blueberry and any other kind of pie filling, bonus is they get little chunks of fruit too.
