I think you're on the right track. I would do a cross cake in light blue with white accents...maybe write a scripture across the cake (or part of a scripture)...or.."May God guide and protect (insert name)"...

All of my children have been dedicated to the Lord, meaning as parents we are dedicated to raising them to know and live by God's word.

There are some wonderful cakes on this site under "First Communion" in the galleries section. Good Luck!

Oh yeah, this sounds like a baptism cake.. Being a Catholic, when we baptize a baby, godparents are chosen.. What is a god parent.. A person who no matter what keeps the lords prayer and lords wisdom in the childs mind.. Exactly as fronklowes said "meaning as parents we are dedicated to raising them to know and live by God's word".
The cross sound perfect!

I think it would be a good idea if you ask the religious preference of the parents. I have done dedication cakes that were not to have crosses on them.

Quite a few of the "baptism" cakes I have uploaded were actually for dedicatioins. I would ask the parents if they want a cross or not. Most parents have also wanted "God Bless....insert name..." Good luck!

I've never heard of a dedication before either! I have a lot of religious cakes in my web site. Here's a link to my religious album:

I agree that you should ask exactly what a dedication is!
