I overbaked a cake yesterday. Didn't burn it; but would not eat it as a cake because it's going to be too dry. What can I make with it? I have no chocolate for dipping cake balls; was looking for another alternative.

Ha Ha! Last time I overbaked a cake it went into the freezer ... and is still there!

I'm going to a cookout tomorrow. I am making whoopee pies for that ... but now that I have this cake; I figured an extra dessert wouldn't go to waste!

BTW, the cake is half white and half chocolate.

make a trifle

in tall glasses

layer of cake,
layer of fruit (strawberry goes w/ both!)
layer of whipped topping

repeat layers until glass is full (at least two of each finishing w/ whipped topping.

and drizzle simple syrup or juice from strawberries on the cake

garnish w/ fresh fruit pieces.

My favorite is layers of cake alternating with pudding. Cake and pudding can be any flavors and then toped with some cool whip! I like this b/c I can do as little or as much as I want and make it different every time.

Thanks everybody. All look yummy ... for the cookout, I think the most practical are some of the crumb cookie recipes on earlene's web site that dandelion posted.
Keep those recipes coming!

There are a few dupes too, though.
