Has anyone tried this recipe? If so, how strong does the coffee taste in it? Is it a durable cake that can stand up to stacking?
Thanks!!

Dumb question what does WBH mean?

This is a wonderful cake, you won't even taste the coffee. The coffee enhances the flavor of the chocolate and makes it taste richer. I think it would be sturdy enough for stacking if the cakes are allowed to settle. It is moist and delicious, I have recieved nothing but rave reviews.

WBH means Whimsical Bake House. It is the name of a book.

I posted a similar thread about this recipe but instead was asking for some baking tips, first time since a dry yellow cake that i make a cake from scratch, I hear the cake itself is yummy not sure about the coffee taste I have heard though the coffee is supposed to enhance the chocolate flavor

Thanks tyty. Probably a dumb question, but what do you mean by letting it settle? Letting it set a while before torting & stacking? I usually freeze my cakes the day I bake them. This will be one of the first scratch cakes that I try. I hope it turns out okay.

I also freeze my cakes also. If you freeze the cake or or wrap it and let it sit overnight the cake has time to settle and become more stable.

I made it and I also stacked it icon_wink.gif The taste is really good, no coffee taste at all, makes only the cake darker and enhances the taste of cacaopowder. Best is to bake them the evening before so it can chill properly, otherwise it will crumble easily. You could also put it in the frigde for few hours if you want to use it sooner.

I added some orange zest (of fresh oranges) to it, absolutely great taste!!
Everyone loved this cake!!

Your cake is really pretty, the orange zest sounds really good. I like chocolate and orange. That would be good with some orange buttercream and add a little orange flavor to the fondant. I will have to try it real soon, my mouth is watering.
