I entered a cake in the county fair this weekend and won second place...my first competition. I just had to let you know. I've attached a picture of the cake. I didn't even expect to win anything.

Congratulations! So is just the center of the flower a cake and the petals are fondant on the cake board?

Yep. I made a banana cake covered it with buttercream and made mm fondant/gumpaste petals. The dragonfly is mm fondant/gumpaste with gelatin wings.

The wings are a thin wire dipped in gelatin (2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin, 6 teaspoons water).

I don't know. I wasn't able to stick around for judging and had to pick up my cake after everyone else. I'm hoping if I did they will call me.
