I once wanted to make a cake and the recipe called for cake flour which I didnt have so I went on line to find out if I can use all purpose and came across this really informative site. its:

I tried substituting plain flour for cake flour and I didn't like the results.

Some things, I just won't compromise on.

I have an ingredients substitute list in the binder of my Pillsbury cook book. I've used it for sour cream and for buttermilk mostly.

Glad I could help it comes in handy if you are just in the mood to make something and dont have all the ingredients on hand or in a last minute pinch.
