I am new to cake decorating and I want to buy the Wilton round "performance" pan set. They include 12, 10, 8, and 6 inch pans. Can anyone tell me how many boxes of cake mix will I need to make a cake using these. Also what do I need exactally (how many of each) to tier the cake, dowels, separator plates etc.?

I started writing with permanent marker on the bottom of my pans with the information. Pan size (b/c I couldn't find it etched on the ones I have) and how many cups of batter.

That way I don't have to look it up all the time, its right there when I pull the pans out.
