I just love the cupcake towers and woud like to do one for an upcoming baby shower. My husband will make the squares for me, no problem with that. I am just wondering how to finish them.

The colors of the shower are chocolate brown and blue and I think the squares should be white and I'd like to use poka dot ribbon on the edges.

Any suggestions.......

Thanks!
Melissa

A cake drum is a heavy piece of cardboard that is wrapped in foil. On the tutorial pictures they are the silver rounds that get covered in the pink paper. And that wasn't a dumb question icon_biggrin.gif

bakerj - a lot of people on here use gift wrap for their cake boards and then cover them with clear contact paper. It's easy to find a pattern/color to match your theme this way. Another thing you can do is to cover your cake board with fondant.

bakerj-I usually buy my drums here:

From square or rectangle boards I head to the home depot lumber section and have them cut to the size I need. Then cover them with wrapping and contact paper.

I personally would go with a wooden cylinder and attach them using wood glue and nails to the wood rounds. I'm not sure how the styrene would hold up with the heavy wood rounds on top.
