The cake design I'm doing has a 1/2 circle (6 inch circle cut in half) centered on the flat side of each side of a hexagon. I'll have to cut a 6 inch cake dummy in half ot get this. Does this than qualify my cake as "carved"? It's the bottom tier and the only thing on it is going to be a flower. It isn't a structural piece at all.

Wish I knew. I am also trying to find out if it's ok to use rice krispy treats in carved pieces, or if it must be cake. I emailed Kerry Vincent, but no response. She's been really nice so far, but she's got to be busy.

I talked to Moydear and in my case she said that it is okay - I don't know about the RK!

Rachel,
In your case it is just a round cake stacked on top of another cake correct??

The half circles won't have anything but some gumpaste decorations on them.
