I am finishing my sister's graduation cake tonite. As you can see from my pics icon_eek.gif I'm a beginner!!! icon_sad.gif Anyway, I'm doing a 10 inch white and 6 inch chocolate stacked cake iced in BC w/ strawberry cream filling. I made the filling and baked the cakes last night. Tonite I will attempt my first stacked cake. I read a lot on this website and feel confident (even though my last cake (see my pics) wasn't too pretty). I'm using straw dowels and I'm going to attempt the Melvira method w/ my BC. I'm doing a simple shell border and placing a ribbon around the bottom (I'll tape waxed paper on the back first to prevent grease marks - hint from CC I picked up).

I need luck! Also, I was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips or suggestions for a newbie doing this type of cake.

TIA
Amber

I am pretty new to all of this too but I just wanted to say that I looked at your photos and I think your cakes look good. It is clear you have thought a lot about what you plan to do for this next cake and how you plan to execute it. I think you will do great and the cake sounds delicious. Good luck and please post a pic. of the completed cake.
