I am making a red velvet cake this weekend and the customer has requested that a particular edible image be placed on the cake. I normally use cream cheese icing and I am almost sure that an edible image will not survive cream cheese icing because of the texture of the icing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't see why it wouldn't unless your icing is really loose. If you are that worried about it , put a layer of your normal buttercream under the image. Or put the image on a piece of fondant then lay that on the cake.

Hi sugadahl - cream cheese frosting is my fav to make and I put edible images on this all the time; never had an issue. I have used both frosting sheets and rice paper on this icing. Have fun.

Thanks peg818 and snowshoe1. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing. Thanks for suggesting an alternative (using bc or fondant underneath)---that's a good idea!!!
