Okay, tonite I tried to make a tiara out of chocolate. How does everyone get their lines so defined? Mine just kept running and now looks like a blob! I even was using a tip 1, I started with a tip 3 than for the overlapping I used a 1 thought I could get all of the fine detail but the chocolate just runs.....what am I doing wrong?

Please help! Cake is due Monday and I have to make 2 of these!

I tired a chocolate and a royal icing one with not so good results so I switched to a MMF fondant one and it turned out the best. I just used a cookie cutter for the top shape and then extended the edges out. I laid it on some wax paper curved over a can and let it dry several days. I then used my bead maker and attached the beads and heart. My client was totally thrilled when she seen it so I plan to make more and have them ready. You could make the tiara any color and accent with colored beads too. Here is my photo. Hope you understand my madness, it's early. Pam from Bama

I haven't tried making one out of chocolate and probably never will--we don't mix very well unless it is going in my mouth! icon_lol.gif The tiara I made that is in my photos was made out of gumpaste using my sugarcraft gun. That method worked grat for me and will continue to use that. Though, I may be okay with royal if needed....

i made mine w/royal and it had to be pretty thick using a tip 1 and overlapping....and it still ran a bit...but I would do the entire thing before i went back to pipe over lines where needed.

Does it have to be done with chocolate? I just made my first tiara and used Royal Icing. It turned out pretty good I think for my first attempt-the pic is in my gallery. I used a #2 tip and piped the whole thing, then went back and repiped after that was dry. I did this 4 x's. Some of it ran together a bit, but that could just be my unsteady hand. icon_mad.gif I may try a #1 tip next time though to try for finer lines/detail. It didn't take long to dry in between layers. So, I don't think you would have a problem making two by Monday. Good luck! thumbs_up.gif
