Hi everyone,
I was hoping for a little bit of help. I've just made my first batch of mmf and it's really really sticky icon_cry.gif ....seems no matter how much conf. sugar I add it still seems that way. Am I doing something wrong?

I have heard a lot of people talk about humidity. Could that be a factor? I think the entire country is in the middle of a hea wave right now...LOL

Hope that helps some..

That may be the problem...It's so nasty here in NJ today. I just turned on my air...maybe that'll help when I work with it later this afternoon.
Thanks

Humidity definately does affect it. do not keep adding icing sugar because when it dries it all cracks if it has too much sugar in it. The trick is to spray your hands with mo stick spray and work it in your hands for at least 5-7 minutes. It is like working with clay etc, you need to work it out to make it soft and pliable.

Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it stand for a couple of hours. When you work with mmf you should let it stand about 24 hours before applying to a cake.

Humidity DEFINITELY plays a role in MMF. I live in northeast Texas. Today the actual temperature is 95, but with the humidity, the heat index is 108. I tried to make a rose yesterday with MMF and it just became a big pile of goo. I got so frustrated, I actually started crying. I don't know what you can do (if anything) in weather like that to make the MMF workable, but if any one knows, I would definitely be interested. I had my a/c on full blast, and it didn't even help.

I just started working with MMF myself. I did a pink "under the sea" theme with it. I live in Michigan were the humidity is usually at 70% or better here on the lakeshore.(Lake Michigan) My workroom is in my basement and I've found that all my decorating goes better with my de-humidifier running. My MMF, royal icing, etc. seems to handle MUCH better! I also run my A/C all summer long. This also helps.

Good Luck!
