I have a 1 lb bag of royal & picture icing mix from CK Products. The instructions on the bag for royal icing say add 5 tablespoons water to the 1-lb bag. I want a MUCH smaller quantity of icing for a very small project and want to save the rest. Does anyone know of the proportions to make a small batch??? HELP!

TIA!!! usaribbon.gif

I would try taking some of the mix and putting it in a bowl add water 1 teaspoon at a time till you get the consistency you need.

1 teaspoon meringue powder, to 1 1/2 tablespoons of water mix well than add your icing sugar in small batches mixing well between each until you get the correct consistency

I make a half bag of the CK mix all of the time. I weigh out half of it--
8 oz.---and start out mixing with about 2 TBSP of water. I add it by dribs and drabs after that until I get the consistency I want. It works out very well if I don't want to store the leftovers.

I'd dump the bag into a measuring cup and see how much it measures. Then divide by five (the five tablespoons) and figure it's one tablespoon for each fifth of the powder. Once I figured it out, I'd write it right on the bag. (example: one tablespoon for 3/4 cup) Store the unused powder back in the bag or in tupperware, but cut out the mixing instructions and put it in the tupperware with the powder.
