Stack Cake ?

If I am stacking a 8 inch onto a 10 inch am i supposed to put something in between the layers? sorry i'm dumb and new to all this and doing everything on my own, the last one I done when they cut the top layer it pulled the icing off the bottom layer then there was no icing on top of the bottom layer. Thanks!

Place the 8" on its own cake board, use parchment paper and powdered sugar between the 2 cakes.

Most sprinkle powdered sugar under cakeboards to keep frosting from sticking.
