Have An Idea, Not Sure If It Will Work - What Do Ya Think?

I want to make an ultimate frisbee cake for some friends who play ultimate frisbee. One idea I had was to make a cake with hands on either side of it with a frisbee on the top (the frisbee itself would either be a small thin cake, fondant, or a chewy cookie). Anyway, it's the hands part that I was wondering about. I was thinking of making the hands out of RK treats and what I was going to do is fill up plastic gloves with the RK treats and then put it in the fridge to harden and then just cut the gloves off with scissors. So I have two questions about this:

1) Do you think this would work?
2) Do you think it is safe for the hot RK treats to be touching the inside of clean plastic gloves and then cooling in there? (I'm wondering about the plastic somehow being harmful)

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Use the non-powdered latex gloves... yes they are food safe.

Whether it will work - I don't know, never tried it. Good luck. icon_biggrin.gif

Don't most disposble gloves have some sort of powder on the inside? Then you have to deal with heat against latex ... I wouldn't do it ... have you thought of making them from modelling chocolate (chocolate clay) or fondant? ... or even just free-hand sculpting the RK treats? They are pretty forgiving and you have a good amount of time to work with them ...

My friend made a crazy insane real looking hand the other day out of rice crispies which she covered in Fondant. They honestly looked so real that we decided to not use them on the cake. It was a cake for church, about being in God's hands.. and well the idea of hacking into one of God's hands just made me feel a bit.. off
but anyway she just let the rice crispies get a bit cool and firm and she just used her hands to make the shape. I don't think that the gloves would be stiff enough to really hold the shape well, and if they did... probably might not taste very well
But, give a try before hand and see if it works, no pun intended.

Sounds like the glove shoulc work. They are very pliable so you will probably have to mold it to shapd after filling it. Sounds like a great idea and a challenge. Im also up for that! Let me know how it turns out. Would a hand cookie cutter wokr otherwise! Just a alternatifve thought. Good Luck!

I would like to know if this works as well. If you give it a try let us know the outcome.

I think it might be difficult getting the rice krispies in there (into the fingers especially). As an alternative, why not use melted chocolate?
