I have a baby shower cake due Sat morning, but I work all day tommarow. I have no car to get to store and im OUT of Veg. Oil. All I have is Extra Virgin Olive Oil (light texture) and whipped margrine. What do i do? I made the white cakes, but i need the chocolate now
I cant wait for a car cause I have 6 cakes to ice already.
Pls any ideas, Im at a lose. I NEVER run out of Veg oil. icon_sad.gif

Can't give you exact amounts but I know you can substitute the following for oil:
apple sauce
mayo
butter
I'm not sure about the whipped margerine.
Hopefully some one else will know.

as long as the EVOO is light in flavor, you can use it in place of regular oil.

it will work the same and is actually more heart healthy♦

Okay I have 2 bottles. I use them in pasta, tastes much better i think. Imported EVOO that says light in texture, it says refines OO and EVOO as ingredents.
Second is Imported from Spain, cold pressed, pure EVOO ingredents are only EVOO neither says light in flavor but the second doesnt smell as strong. Im making a box mix, and even check the website i got nuthin.

I use olive oil instead of regular vegetable oil in my carrot cake and from time to time in other cakes. If your chocolate cake is a light chocolate, you will only notice it a wee bit. It isn't an unpleasant taste at all. If your chocolate cake is of the darker sorts, the taste will be subtle, if at all.

I have used applesauce before in chocolate cake and it was fine. Very moist in fact......and you can not taste the apple in it. I would use half oil/ half apple sauce. you could also add a little coffee to bring out the chocolate flavor.
