I did this Superman Cake for my husband yesterday.
In another thread I was talking about melting chocolates and how to keep them from getting too soft on your cake and collapsing.
I ended up putting them in the fridge until about 1 hour before we cut into it, and kept it in the fridge for a while longer just before cutting it.
I used Baker's Baking chocolate and didn't temper it. That's why it was getting soft too fast.
Anyway, I will use Candy Melts, which don't need tempering as I was told, next time.
Or, I will attempt to temper it to see what happens.
Thanks for all the advise on the chocoalte.
cute cake! love the clouds. You know I saw a cake similar to this in the gallery, I think they just used plain chocolate bars (like a hershey bar) and decorated the windows on it. Just an easy and fast way to do it! I thought it was a good idea, and time saver! Yours looks great though!
Thanks merissa! Yep, I saw the one you are talking about. But time wasn't an issue so I took my time... I wanted to experiment with chocolate shapes anyway.
Thanks for your comments!
Maria, what a GREAT cake! I love the building/city scape idea with the clouds/sky in between and superman coming out of it! That looks super!
It is fun when time isnt an issue, eh? when you have time to experiment and try different things lol
