HELLO, IM NEW TO DECORATING CAKES AND I HAVE AN ORDER FOR A LUAU CAKE NEXT MONTH. THE THING IS I CANT DRAW TO SAVE MY LIFE. SO HOW WOULD I PUT HIBISCUS FLOWERS AND PALM TREES ON A CAKE IF I CANT DRAW ?. ALSO I NEED TO DO IT ALL IN BC. I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START, CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME ? ![]()
Here's a link to my pic of a luau grad cake I did for my daughter - mostly cupcakes - but..
the flowers are wilton petunias made ona lily nail with rost tip 104. You could do these with a stiff buttercream and let them dry good before you put them on.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. You also might want to search the galleries for luau or tropical to see other pictures. And read up on frozen buttercream transfers (FBCT). Search for those in the forums. Helps if you can't draw well freehand.
I have made the hibiscus flowers as FBCT's on several luau cakes...
Also, I have posted my pattern for the palm tree and banana leaves in the Templates&Patterns Gallery after several requested from the drawing-challenged!
(If you can't find a hibiscus pattern and need one, just let me know and I can PM you to share mine! - It's not an original drawing so I can't post here!)
HTH!

You guys are all so talented. Ive tried Leckieannes idea everyone loved it. Now Im going to have to try Marissas and gmcakes. . You can see my attempt at leckieannes luau theme in the gallery. Mine was for a wedding shower though so the main cake was different. Good luck BabyG!
Thank you so much for your complement. I cant take credit though. I was inspired so much by all the people on CC.
Be sure and post your cake. I cant wait to see what you come up with. So many great ideas. Have fun with it BabyG!
