Sounds to me like he needs something stronger than claritin. My son started with sinus infections at age 6 months. He was put on Zyrtec liquid. He started out on 1 tsp daily until his infection was cleared. Then as needed. Yes he ran fever with his because they are infections. He is now 4 and vary rarely needs the meds.

fever equals infection i would call your peditrician to see what they recomend. If he has color to it you can almost bet you need an antibiodic you can run the course of a sinus infection however being an allergy sufferer myself shots and all its best to treat asap

It is clear, but the fever is what has me wondering........is that normal?

His behavior is pretty much ok. He doesn't act like he feels bad at all.

We'll see how it goes tomorrow, I just don't want to keep him home from school another day.

Thanks!!

no its not normal for the allergy symptoms if he has a cold then yes any little virus wich there is a viral sinusitis... can cause fever now in these parts rather you want to keep him home or not a student can not return to school within 24 hour of having a fever without a doctor note

Mine had a fever every time he had a sinus infection. The doc said he wasn't contagious and gave me a note for daycare. It was just his infection causing the fever.

I have horrible allergies and get a sinus infection at least once a year in the fall. I always run a fever and my whole face swells a bit, its awful, but it clears up in a couple of days after getting a shot of kenalog from my doctor. Shots always work faster than regular medicine.

my daughter use to run a little one when she was really stopped up especially if it was giving her a headache. also, i can't rmemeber, its been a while but when do they start getting molars. cause they caused my kids some problems until all there teeth were in. that could also be part of the sinus problems. and the fever. my daughter had such bad allergies she would also get the hives. we had to keep her on zirtec for almost a year. then she grew out of it. thank goodness.

mmdd our son has suffered with allergies started with this dry cough at night every night it was horrible. We finally took him to see a specialist because he got 7 infections in one year. At one point he was on Zyrtec, Flonase and Singular all at the same time. We were able to take him off the Zyrtec and now he only uses the Flonase as needed. Just some suggestions on other things, try to keep stuffed animals to a minimum - they retain lost of dust, we don't have any carpeting in the house, I don't use fabric softener on his bedding and we don't have any pets, all of those things can make allergies worse - good luck!

Wow! 7 infections in one year...that is a lot. Dh gets them really bad and all of the time!!! Dm also has had lots of problems with sinus.

His skin is very sensitive. Like, we use Downy april fresh soft., and one time I tried the Downy Mount. spring and he broke out in hives! So...I really have to be careful with him!

I also use Pledge allergen reducer, and other items.

We got a dog for Christmas and this is only the 2nd major outbreak that he's had; so that's been good. I don't know how, I was afraid of his allergies acting up even more because of the dog, but they've actually lessened.

I just don't think I'd ever noticed him running a fever with them before, but maybe he did and I just didn't notice.

He's doing just fine now; went back to school the next day--only to come home crying b/c he couldn't breathe. He took a little nap, ate and we watched a movie and he was just fine. So, now I'm wondering about this school thing....he's always been one to catch colds, etc. When he was in daycare, he got an ear infection once a month.

Is sinus contagious?
