I have two questions (and probably more later) ...

I am going to make my daughter's baptism cake, and I want to place a cross made of fondant on top of a cake iced with buttercream. Will the Crisco in the buttercream cause the fondant to soften?

Also, I would like to add some kind of luster/shimmer to the pink fondant cross to give it a dainty and sweet look. Any ideas?

Thanks so much for any ideas/suggestion you can offer!

Shanna

The Crisco might make it a little softer, but it shouldn't do it quickly. I would do that right before I walked out the door if you're worried about it. I would get some luster dust to put on the cross. It will give it that shimmer look. I hope this helps

Fondant decorations on buttercream shouldn't cause it to breakdown. Have you thought of doing a cross in white chocolate, you could color that pink as well if you are worried about the fondant. Use lustre dust brush it with a paint brush and it will shine quite nice.

Hope this helps
